PARTIAL HOSPITALIZATION PROGRAM
THE CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PARTIAL
HOSPITALIZATION PROGRAM
Who Can Benefit From Partial Hospitalization
The Child and Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program at Foundations Behavioral
Health provides intensive daytime therapy for youngsters whose symptoms
and behavior are interfering with their daily activities. Partial hospitalization
has proven to be especially helpful for individuals who require more focused
and continuous therapy than can be provided by traditional outpatient treatment.
This level of care can help arrest the progression of some psychiatric
and behavioral symptoms. It is also an effective transition program for
adolescents who have just completed a period of inpatient hospitalization.
The Adolescent Partial Hospitalization
Program for ages 14 – 18 and
the Children’s Partial Hospitalization Program for ages 8 – 13
offer an intensive, structured clinical program in a stable therapeutic
environment.
The program’s goal is stabilization and symptom reduction, with the
aim of preventing or reducing a more restrictive and intensive hospital stay.
Measurable
outcomes are woven into each individual treatment plan and play an integral
part in quality assurance.
The Partial Hospitalization Program
allows patients to live at home and attend a structured
program five days a week, Monday
through Friday. This arrangement
minimizes the disruption to the family and is less costly than inpatient
hospitalization. Foundations Behavioral Health offers transportation, if
it is not provided
by the school district.
Diagnostic Assessment and Spectrum of Services
Our professional staff is directed by a board-certified psychiatrist and includes
experienced nurse specialists, social workers, activities therapists and
mental health associates. They are a part of Foundations Behavioral Health’s
team of psychiatric and behavioral health experts. From the time of admission
until discharge the Supervising Psychiatrist and Program Director continue
to liaison with community providers and referring health professionals.
The
daily program is comprised of an integrated array of scheduled therapeutic
activities, which include individual and group psychotherapy, family therapy,
theme-specific groups, social skills development, behavior management, education
services and other adjunctive therapies. The Program Psychiatrist meets daily
with patients and provides individual therapy on a regular basis. In addition,
the psychiatrist oversees medication checks, assessments, family therapy
and discharge planning.
A Wide Array of Treatment Modalities
Involvement in a wide array of activities and groups helps
patients to develop skills in conflict resolution, symptom
management, academic attendance, community awareness, social
interactions, and interpersonal relationships. When appropriate,
medication management and monitoring assist the patient
in taking his or her medication on a regular basis. Educational
services are also offered to program participants through
daily tutoring while attending the program.
The combined
experience of our professional team is our advantage,
enabling us to rely on expertise from all areas, including
research, clinical, education and vocational. Professionals
from these specialties work together to create an individual
treatment plan for each patient.
